Las Cruces Rocks the Night Away with the Plain White T’s

An American flag waves in the crowd.

The air was electric last night, as hundreds of Cruces residents gathered on NMSU campus to partake in the live music at the park. Citizens were graced with a set from Raul Malo of the Mavericks, and then a full blown rock out with the Plain White T’s!

Guitarist Tim Lopez beckons the crowd to join in the show.

Everyone basked in the summer night air, listening to the rock stylings of the Plain White T’s, local food in hand and family close by. It was a beautiful experience, as it is one of the first times I have seen this many Cruceans in one place following the pandemic. As things return to normal once again, I am hopeful to see some of my local townspeople getting close and beginning to enjoy time together. Tom Higgenson felt the love in the air, as i got a chance to talk to him after the show, and he had this to say:

Gavin: “How did it feel to perform for the people of Las Cruces tonight? And how does it feel to be back on stage after the pandemic?”

Tom: “It was amazing! We were a little worried because there was some bad weather earlier, but I was glad that cleared up and we got to play. It was a lot of fun.”

Tom: “It was weird during the pandemic because you realize that playing shows was so normal to us, that when it got taken away from us it was like, ‘Man, I don’t know when I’ll be on stage again.’ But the fact that we are playing again, and that crowd was amazing out there, to be able to play in front of a crowd like that again, it just means the world to us. On the Fourth of July, the weather ended up being great, and it was the perfect night.”

Tom has a blast as the crowd sings along to the music!

It was a successful 4th of July as families and friends got together to enjoy each other, and the beautiful community we have developed here together.
